Job Title: Software Quality Engineering Lead

Location: Cape Town (Hybrid – Minimum 3 Days/Week Onsite in Pinelands)

Contract Duration: 3 Months

Level: Lead

Start Date: ASAP

We’re on the hunt for a Software Quality Engineering Lead who can drive quality engineering across agile development teams. This is a Cape Town-based hybrid role, ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and has a strong technical foundation in test automation, quality strategy, and team leadership.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed a quality-first mindset, introduce best practices, and lead efforts to build robust, scalable automated test solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and lead the test strategy, planning, and execution across multiple agile squads.
• Champion shift-left testing practices and CI/CD quality gates.
• Guide and mentor Quality Engineers, ensuring best practices in automation and manual testing.
• Collaborate with development, product, and architecture teams to embed quality at every stage.
• Promote and support the adoption of modern testing frameworks and tools.
• Ensure traceability, transparency, and accountability using Jira/XRay.

Core Skills & Experience:

• Proven leadership in quality engineering or software testing roles.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright and REST Assured for end-to-end and API automation.
• Proficiency in using Jira/XRay for test management and tracking.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how to integrate quality gates.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills – both technical and business-facing.
• Passion for mentorship, collaboration, and building high-performing QE teams.
