Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking a hands-on ServiceNow QA Engineer to join our ServiceNow Practice in Johannesburg. You will execute functional, regression and integration tests, contribute to automated testing using ServiceNow ATF, and deliver clear defect reports.

Working closely with the QA Manager, BAs, and development teams in a hybrid working setup, you will ensure quality across sprints and releases, support UAT, and help grow our automated test framework.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a QA Engineer or software testing role within a ServiceNow or enterprise platform delivery environment.
• Practical experience using ServiceNow ATF to build and execute automated test scripts.
• Strong skills in writing test cases and test scripts from user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Experience executing functional, regression, and integration testing within an agile delivery environment.
• Ability to write clear, reproducible defect reports and manage defects through to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Execute functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across all ServiceNow development in line with the test plans defined by the QA Manager.
• Write clear, well-structured test cases and test scripts based on user stories and acceptance criteria provided by the Business Analyst.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test scripts within the ServiceNow ATF, expanding coverage across product domains.
• Execute regression testing ahead of each release and platform upgrade, using the automated test suite to validate platform stability.
• Log, track, and retest defects accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring developers receive clear, reproducible defect reports.
• Support UAT coordination activities - setting up test environments, providing test data, and assisting business stakeholders through test execution.
• Maintain test cases and test scripts in the shared test repository, keeping them up to date as platform changes are made.
• Contribute to quality reporting by providing accurate test execution status, pass/fail rates, and defect metrics to the QA Manager.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies - including backlog grooming and sprint reviews - to ensure testability is considered from story creation through to delivery.

Role Overview

The ServiceNow QA Engineer is a hands-on technical testing role within the NTT DATA ServiceNow Practice, responsible for executing test activities across the full development lifecycle. Working closely with the QA Manager, Business Analysts, and development team, the QA Engineer ensures that all developed functionality is tested thoroughly, accurately, and in line with the quality standards set by the QA Manager and Practice.

The QA Engineer is an executor - their primary focus is on building and running test cases, contributing to the automated test framework, and providing timely, accurate feedback on quality across sprints and releases. They will cover development from the Practice, ATS, and automations teams, operating as part of the shared QA function.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven experience in a QA Engineer or software testing role within a ServiceNow or enterprise platform delivery environment.
• Practical experience using ServiceNow ATF (Automated Test Framework) to build and execute automated test scripts.
• Strong skills in writing test cases and test scripts from user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Experience executing functional, regression, and integration testing within an agile delivery environment.
• Ability to write clear, reproducible defect reports and manage defects through to resolution.
• Comfortable working across multiple product domains, picking up context quickly and adapting testing approaches accordingly.

Desirable

• Experience with platform upgrade testing in ServiceNow, including regression test execution during upgrade cycles.
• Familiarity with ISTQB Foundation or equivalent testing qualification.
• Exposure to broader test automation tools or scripting in addition to ServiceNow ATF.
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or equivalent product knowledge.
• Experience supporting UAT with business stakeholders, including test environment setup and guidance through test execution.
