Software Engineer, West Lake, WC
Job description
We are seeking a Software Engineer for a permanent role based in West Lake, Western Cape.
Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent.
- Previous experience supporting APIs using AWS / Lambda / PHP / C# and SQL.
- Relevant certifications: coding bootcamps, MOOCs, etc.
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar position (front end or back-end development / coding).
- Using IT methods and tools, including setup, configuration, maintenance, and support.
- Using established techniques to identify current problems and document business requirements for simple subjects.
- Experience with data management and project management.
- Solid understanding of design principles and database architecture as well as software development lifecycle methodologies.
- Knowledge of national and international IT practices.
- Able to code following published standards and design guidelines.
- Able to learn new technology skills quickly.
- Knowledge of sets of techniques such as JSON, REST, SCRUM, UML, etc.
- Valid driver’s license and own transport.
- Qualified equity candidates will be given preference.
The successful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Support and enhance APIs, utilizing AWS SAM/Lambda, PHP, C#, and SQL while effectively communicating with clients.
- Gathering and analyzing user and business requirements.
- Writing code optimized for mobile and developing databases and services for functionality.
- Co-designing, building, testing, and implementing software solutions.
- Writing clean, functional code on the front and back end.
- Testing and fixing bugs and designing tools for systems.
- Delivering technical visualization of proposed application architecture.
- Designing, coding, and testing programs and scripts.
- Conducting releases to test and post-release reviews.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Investigating, analyzing, and documenting reported defects.
- Transcribing data.
