Job summary

Betway Group is seeking a Software Engineer to own complex pieces of work end-to-end in our dynamic online gaming environment. You will drive technical design, lead cross-team discussions and deliver robust features through to production.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years of commercial software engineering with strong C#/.NET, API design, databases, testing and Git-based workflows. You will mentor peers and contribute to high-quality code and secure, observable systems.

What you’ll do

• Own complex pieces of work end to end
• Take ambiguous problems, break them down, propose a design and lead delivery through to production
• Make pragmatic trade-offs between speed, complexity, quality and cost, and clearly communicate them to the team.
• Shape the technical design of features and services
• Lead design discussions, write design docs and represent your team in cross-team technical conversations.
• Spot risks, dependencies and integration points early, and design solutions that hold up over time.
• Drive engineering quality across the codebase
• Champion clean code, good test coverage, observability and security in everything we ship.
• Lead refactors and modernisation work that pays down meaningful technical debt without grinding feature work to a halt.
• Mentor and grow other engineers
• Actively coach Software Engineer I and II team members through pairing, code review and structured guidance.
• Run internal sessions, write playbooks and share patterns that raise the bar across the team.
• Be a reliable steward of production
• Lead complex incident investigations, drive root-cause analysis and turn learnings into lasting improvements.
• Improve our monitoring, alerting and operational practices so we catch issues before our customers do.
