Qualifications

• 5-7 years - Broad experience in translating business and functional requirements into technical specifications and developing the programming code to create the solutions.
• 8-10 years - Proven experience in modern engineering practices (DevOps, Agile) across multiple IT engineering disciplines with specialization in at least one area.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test cases for unit testing and deploy code builds in testing environment with QA reviews.
• Produce specifications for system functions, information flows, data loads, implementation strategy, and alternatives considered.
• Provide support and production standby post go-live adhering to release methodology and change management procedures.
• Scope plan, design and review end-to-end solutions against standards, suggesting enhancements and revisions.
• Strive to reach mature levels on the continuum model by building team competence in continuous delivery and staying updated on new development methodologies.
• Coach or mentor junior engineers on technical aspects of application development and stakeholder engagement.
• Develop fully functional applications across platforms that conform to current technologies and standards and publish them to relevant platforms.

Our client in the banking industry is looking for a Software Engineer to join their team!

Job Purpose:

To design, code, test, debug, and maintain programs in development environments. Apply agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineers result. Work within a strict framework of programming standards under supervision of senior technical resources.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare test cases for unit testing purposes, conduct unit testing and deploy code build in testing environment to ensure that errors are detected and resolved within service level timelines, by conducting quality assurance reviews to ensure the quality of engineering and drive delivery.
• Produce specifications for systems functions, information flows, data loads, implementation strategy, phasing of development, requirements not met and alternatives considered.
• Provide support and production standby post go live adhering to release methodology and technical change management procedures for all changes by providing quick response for problem and blockers.
• Scope plan, design and review end to end solutions against standards, methods and procedures, proposing enhancements and revisions as part of the broader Software Engineering community, to ensure alignment to the strategic objective priorities.
• Strive to reach mature levels on the continuum model by building own and team competence to work in a continuous delivery environment. Research and stay abreast of new development methodologies and contribute to maturing on the Continuum model.
• Coach or mentor junior Engineers on technical aspects of application development, controls, and documentation standards as well as on engaging effectively with relevant stakeholders.
• Develop fully functional applications across all platforms that are in line with current technologies and standards and publish them to the relevant platform to enhance the functioning and experience of employees.

Work Experience:

• 5-7 years - Broad experience in translating business and functional requirements into technical specifications and developing the programming code to create the solutions.
• 8-10 years - Proven experience in modern engineering practices i.e. dev ops, agile etc., Proven experience across multiple, broad IT Engineering disciplines, with demonstrated specialisation in at least one. Experience within the required scope of expertise.
