Job description

Our client is looking for the services of a Development Manager to be based in Centurion.

You should have a Degree as well as 5 years experience in Software Development with an additional 2 years in a leadership or Management role.

Your programming background should include experience with Azure, SQL, React, Typescript, and C#.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
2. 5+ years of experience in software development.
3. 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership or management role.
4. Strong programming background (e.g., Azure, SQL, React, Typescript, C#, or similar).
5. Proven experience leading teams delivering production-grade software.
6. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
7. Solid understanding of insurance lifecycle processes (underwriting, quoting, claims, policy management).
8. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
9. Knowledge of API design, microservices, and RESTful architectures.
10. Familiarity with compliance frameworks, secure coding practices, and data privacy regulations.

Preferably the following in addition to the above:

1. Certificates and/or diplomas related to financial services and preferably short-term insurance.
2. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
3. Knowledge of CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code.
4. Background in performance optimization and scalable architecture.
5. Experience working in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
6. Knowledge of modern front-end or mobile development practices is a plus.
7. Passion for user experience, data-driven decision making, and emerging insurance tech trends (e.g., AI/ML in underwriting, digital claims, parametric insurance).
