Job description

  • Who we’re looking for: A skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our QA team. You will combine software development expertise with automated testing, focusing on building and maintaining robust automated testing solutions. You will be responsible for architecting and implementing our automation testing strategies, with a particular emphasis on regression testing for our StoreFront platform.

  • The challenge: To drive quality assurance initiatives, develop comprehensive test strategies, and work closely with developers to ensure the highest standards of software quality. Your expertise in automation and load testing will be crucial in maintaining the reliability and performance of our user-facing applications while supporting our continuous integration and deployment processes.

  • Where you’ll work: This role will be based in Cape Town 2-3 days per week and you'll be part of our global team, collaborating with colleagues and serving customers across the UK, USA, Australia, South Africa, and beyond. Our hybrid approach offers flexibility with regular team connection in our Cape Town office

Day to day this role will

  • Design and implement robust automated test frameworks and tools

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize automated regression tests across our product suite

  • Collaborate with developers to ensure comprehensive test coverage and quality standards

  • Analyze test results and provide detailed bug reports and documentation

  • Support and enhance existing QA processes and methodologies

  • Implement and maintain best practices for test automation and continuous integration

  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on testability

  • Monitor and improve test metrics, including coverage and execution time

  • Mentor team members on testing practices and automation techniques

What we’re looking for

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with development teams

  • Strong analytical skills for test result analysis and bug reporting

  • Strong experience in automated testing and test framework development with automation tools such as playwright, puppeteer etc.

  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools

  • Proven experience in creating and executing e2e automated testing

  • Debugging skills and the ability to trace through complex code paths and tightly coupled code.

  • Knowledge of test metrics and optimization strategies

It’s not essential, but we’d love to hear about it if you have experience with

  • PHP or .NET testing frameworks and methodologies

  • API testing

  • Creating and executing performance load testing strategies

  • Creating and executing security testing strategies

  • Testing in a fintech business

  • OWASP Top 10 and secure development principles

  • AWS services
