To promote, maintain, and develop the psychosocial functioning of clients of Jewish Community Services and to support and strengthen family functioning.
Role and Responsibilities
Case Work
Providing counselling and case management for community members, children, residents, individuals, couples, and families.
Providing family preservation services.
Conducting hospital and home visits as appropriate.
Holding case conferences / family meetings.
Crisis Management.
Referral for specialized services as required.
Group Work
Organizing and conducting groups.
Conducting needs analysis and developing proposals accordingly.
Community Work
Involvement in community development projects as required.
Compiling and presenting relevant presentations as necessary.
Education
Sharing of knowledge in order to further the development of volunteers, students, care workers, social work, and social auxiliary staff.
Providing public education on psychosocial matters.
Speaking at, writing articles for, arranging, and/or participating in seminars and conferences as appropriate.
Professional Development / Functioning
Maintaining and developing appropriate professional qualifications, skills, and knowledge related to the field of work.
Furthering own professional development by making use of internal and external development opportunities.
Attending conferences, lectures, and workshops.
Research
Participating in agency research.
Initiating and completing other research that is beneficial to the organization.
Ensuring CPD points are obtained.
Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team
Facilitating a collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
Liaising and arranging meetings with relevant internal divisions as necessary.
Attending psychiatric clinics as required.
Liaison with External Affiliates / Organizations
Facilitating a collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationship with affiliates and external organizations.
Ad Hoc Tasks / Administration
Ensuring all information regarding clients, groups, and other projects are appropriately maintained.
Maintaining records, process notes, and statistics timeously.
Writing relevant reports as appropriate.
Liaising with and reporting to the relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Relevant Social Work Qualification: Bachelor of Social Work.
Registered with SACSSP.
Social Work experience is an advantage.
Knowledge and skills in the field of family support services.
Own reliable transport and valid driver's license essential.
Preferred Skills
Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines.
Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, and online platforms.
