Job Purpose

The Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government, offers an opportunity for a qualified and competent individual to ensure social work services are provided by supervisees. The role involves promoting social change, problem-solving in human relationships, and empowering people to enhance social well-being.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Formal tertiary qualification in Social Work (e.g., Bachelor of Social Work) enabling professional registration with SACSSP
• Registration with SACSSP as a Social Worker
• At least 7 years of relevant social work experience post-registration

Recommendations and Requirements

• A valid Code B driving license

Key Performance Areas

• Provide social work services related to care, support, protection, and development of vulnerable groups
• Address issues stemming from social instability
• Supervise and advise social workers, auxiliary workers, and volunteers
• Stay updated on developments in the social work field
• Oversee administrative functions and perform higher-level administrative tasks

Remuneration

Grade 1: R – R per annum (OSD Prescribed). Remuneration packages are inclusive of all benefits, including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical aid, housing, pension contributions, etc.
