An independent media platform focused on off-grid living, decentralised energy, and sustainable lifestyles is seeking a Social Media Manager to lead its digital campaign for small-scale energy solutions in the UK.
The organisation has been active for over two decades, sharing stories, resources, and news from individuals and communities living outside conventional systems. With a focus on energy independence, digital freedom, and environmental awareness, it has built a loyal audience across multiple platforms.
This role will involve planning and executing a multi-channel content strategy to promote awareness of decentralised energy and help build a movement for real change. The ideal candidate will be confident working autonomously, comfortable translating complex topics into accessible content, and able to balance creativity with consistency and speed.
Develop and implement a cross-platform social media strategy
Manage and create content for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube, and Amazon Influencer
Produce and schedule creative content including videos, Reels, carousels, threads, and infographics
Grow a community of engaged followers and facilitate meaningful online discussions
Adapt tone and messaging to fit the organisation’s bold, independent voice
Integrate affiliate links and influencer strategies into content plans
Track platform trends and adjust strategy and output accordingly
Proven experience in social media management for advocacy, media, lifestyle, or campaign brands
Strong understanding of sustainable energy, off-grid systems, or decentralised infrastructure
Ability to write clearly, concisely, and compellingly for different platforms
Self-directed, fast-working, and capable of managing multiple content types simultaneously
Fluent in social trends, platform best practices, and content analytics
Experience working with content planning tools, basic design/video tools, or influencer marketing platforms is a plus
Flexible, remote freelance role with scope to increase hours/responsibility
