Job description

Social Auxiliary Worker

Permanent position

Our dream is that people with disabilities are fully integrated into society and are seen as people first; people that have significant potential and value.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Social Auxiliary Worker to join our team and help us work towards this dream.The position is based in Stellenbosch (Western Cape), but will require regular travel to surrounding communities in the Cape Winelands.

This is a full time, permanent position, subject to the continuation of the subsidy from the Western Cape Department of Social Development. The position offers a basic salary and a pension fund benefit.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitation of Community-based Groups;
  • Support to Social Worker & Peer Supporters in Individual Case work;
  • Networking, Awareness raising on disability-related matters/needs;
  • Assist with Programme & Organisational admin, reporting, monitoring, evaluation & task execution

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Auxiliary Worker
  • Registered with the SACSSP and payment to date
  • Knowledge of individual, group and community work
  • Good written and verbal communication in English and Afrikaans/isiXhosa
  • Valid Driver’s license and driving experience of at least 2 years
  • Experience in the disability field and/or non-profit environment will be an advantage
  • Experience in project and people management will be an advantage
