Mediclinic Highveld is seeking a Senior Professional Nurse – Orthopaedics to support the Unit Manager by overseeing safe patient care and coordinating care delivery. The role includes mentoring students and new nurses while providing direct patient care in a specialised unit.

You will lead nursing processes, enforce infection control, and help manage staffing resources to ensure optimal outcomes for patients undergoing orthopaedic treatments.

• Clinical knowledge in nursing care and procedures.
• Experience with surgical or orthopaedic units preferred.
• Ability to interpret clinical data and adjust care plans.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Senior Professional Nurse supports the Unit Manager in ensuring a safe and positive client experience by mitigating clinical risks and co-ordinating care delivery. They further provide direct patient care, as well as mentorship to new and student nurses in the unit.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

Professional Nurse qualification and

Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing if managing a specialist unit (e.g. Perioperative Nursing)

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

3 years Professional Nurse experience in a hospital

1 year mentor experience
