Core Description
Responsible for the management of Telkom Foundation operations, including people and projects to ensure that the Foundation delivers on its mandate of contributing meaningfully to bettering people's lives. The role is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Foundation’s CSI strategy, initiatives and ensure that investments in social development align with the company’s values, business objectives, and regulatory requirements, while delivering measurable impact to communities and stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Leadership:
Coordinate and manage Telkom Foundation implementation plans.
Develop and manage the execution of the Telkom Foundation strategy in alignment with business goals and Sustainability frameworks.
Identify social investment priorities and create initiatives that address critical societal issues (e.g. education, health, environment.
Lead the integration of CSI with broader sustainability and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Program Development & Management:
Direct and manage community development projects from beginning to end.
Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
Coordinate and manage cross-functional efforts.
Provide team leadership by providing targets and measures for productivity and increased revenue flow.
Apply performance measures and incentives in a fair and equitable manner.
Manage CSR monitoring and Evaluation and reporting processes.
Establish an enabling work environment and culture for optimum staff performance.
Enable employee satisfaction measures and motivate, lead, guide and mentor staff.
Implement Safety, Health and Environment Management (SHE) and ensure a conducive working environment.
Drive implementation of Telkom Foundation solutions.
Interpret divisional plan and formulate operational deliverables.
Provide input to business plan and budget.
Drive implementation of solutions and organisational renewal.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, NGOs, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
Represent the Telkom Foundation at forums, community events, and stakeholder engagements related to social development.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment and integration of CSI activities with company operations.
Benchmark and implement industry best practices.
Develop and activate staff towards staff volunteerism programmes.
Governance & Compliance:
Ensure all CSI initiatives comply with relevant legislation, such as BBBEE, the Companies Act, and King IV in South Africa, or similar regional regulations.
Oversee due diligence, risk assessment, and monitoring of funded partners and projects.
Manage CSI budgets, donations, and reporting in a transparent and auditable manner.
Reporting & Communication:
Develop annual CSI reports and contribute to the annual and sustainability report.
Prepare Board packs.
Communicate the impact of CSI efforts to internal and external audiences, including executives and shareholders.
Craft and share compelling stories that highlight the company’s commitment to social responsibility.
Monitor and measure Telkom Foundation success.

Experience
- 7 Years relevant experience, of which at least 2 years on management level
Additional Information
Qualifications and experience:
- Qualification in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Business, Public Policy, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Preferably 8–10 years of experience in corporate social investment, corporate responsibility, or related nonprofit/ NGO management.
- Proven experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects and managing large budgets.
Special requirements:
- Willingness to travel across South Africa.
- Prior charity/ NGO sector experience is preferable. Fluency in English and one other African language.
- Solid understanding & exp of the Corporate Social Investment landscape and sustainability issues. Integrated reporting knowledge of MS Office.
- Knowledge of social development issues, sustainability frameworks, and impact measurement tools.
