Job description

Our client is searching for a Snr. Investment Officer to join their team in Pretoria.

This is not a back-office bean counter role. The Snr Investment Officer we need is a financially sharp dealmaker who doesn’t freeze when it’s time to pick up the phone, pitch a proposal, or walk into a room full of strangers to close a deal.

Yes, you’ll need strong financial modelling and analysis skills, but just as important is your ability to hunt for opportunities, market yourself and the business, build networks from scratch, and follow through until deals are signed. If you get energised by targets, negotiations, and the chase, you will thrive here.

You will present to clients, negotiate terms, and build long-term relationships while juggling financial risk assessment and portfolio monitoring. You need to be results-driven, fearless in your approach, persistent in follow-up, and professional in building trust with clients.

In short, we are looking for a financially savvy hustler with strong commercial instincts, persuasive energy, and the backbone to drive deals through from origination to closure.

If your idea of a great day is combining spreadsheet analysis with client coffees that lead to signed agreements, and you are hungry to grow your network and deal pipeline, this role is for you.

  • Creating detailed financial models, including revenue projections, cost analysis, risk assessment, and return calculations to guide investment decisions.
  • Drafting comprehensive investment reports that communicate findings, risks, and potential returns to stakeholders.
  • Structuring and negotiating viable financing solutions with targeted companies to optimize returns for the organisation based on the associated risk.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the broader SME market.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of client portfolios.
  • Keeping abreast of industry regulations, market dynamics, and economic trends to adapt investment strategies accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • A BCom degree in Accounting, Finance or other business-related field with a minimal level of Financial Accounting II or equivalent
