An opportunity for an experienced SNR. HR BUSINESS PARTNER (PRACTITIONER) is available for permanent employment based in Kathu.
The Recruitment Guy is seeking to permanently employ an experienced SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES BUSINESS PARTNER / PRACTITIONER (with mining / construction sector exposure / experience) to be based in Kathu. This is a mid-management position reporting to the Site Manager and National Group HR Manager.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide effective, efficient, and economical generalist support to enable the company's strategic goals.
- Support all levels of management on labour management.
- Implement and maintain labour-related policies and procedures.
- Facilitate satisfactory labour relations.
- Participate in collective negotiations.
- Maintain Human Resources Department administration and communication.
- Interact professionally with management, internal staff/employees, shop stewards & trade union officials, service providers, payroll departments, operators, training and SHEQ personnel, statutory bodies, Department of Labour, CCMA, Bargaining Councils, etc.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
- Assist management with the development, planning, and implementation of policies and procedures to facilitate effective employee relations.
- Provide guidance regarding legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, and practices related to employee relations.
COMMUNICATION
- Attend shop steward and employee representative meetings.
- Participate in wage negotiations and collective agreement discussions.
- Engage in dispute resolution events.
- Compile and distribute staff briefs and minutes.
ADVISORY CAPACITY
- Advise management on labour relations issues.
- Act as liaison between employees and management.
- Interpret management proposals for union representatives.
TRAINING
- Facilitate training for management and employees on labour relations legislation.
- Coordinate with service providers for relevant training.
RECRUITMENT & ONBOARDING
- Draft job descriptions and advertisements.
- Shortlist candidates as per job requirements.
- Arrange competency testing and draft interview questionnaires.
- Conduct interviews and perform reference checks.
- Implement onboarding documentation and conduct inductions.
- Manage employment confirmations.
TERMINATION PROCESS
- Facilitate and communicate terminations.
- Prepare exit documents and issue certificates of service.
- Ensure statutory and provident fund payments are made.
PAYROLL
- Process and prepare hours for payroll.
- Handle leave and other payroll-related documentation.
- Distribute payslips and address employee queries.
- Manage provident fund withdrawals and claims, medical aid changes, garnishee orders, and wage file updates.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
- Investigate misconducts and gather evidence.
- Advise on labour practices.
- Chair disciplinary hearings and represent the company at Bargaining Council and CCMA.
- Maintain healthy relationships with management, workforce, and unions.
ADMINISTRATION
- Ensure employee documentation is up to date.
- Implement employment contracts.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Comply with company rules and regulations.
- Complete work on time and meet deadlines.
- Perform additional tasks as required by your department or workload.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS :
- Relevant HR tertiary qualification at NQF Level 5 or above.
- Grade 12 secondary qualification.
- APSO accreditation or similar external qualification.
Knowledge & Experience :
- 3+ years experience with trade unions and negotiations.
- 3-5 years experience in a similar-sized organization.
- Advanced MS Excel and Word, intermediate PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of payroll procedures and applicable labour legislation.
- Willingness to work overtime and travel as required.
- Driver’s license with own reliable transport.
