A Big 5 Game Reserve located in the Eastern Cape.

Job Description

We are looking for an individual that hails from the Eastern or Western Cape or is currently a resident in the Eastern Cape and is familiar with the area.

Your duties will principally encompass those of a FIELD GUIDE and any other reasonable tasks associated with the activities of a GAME RESERVE and LODGE / CAMP, its accommodation establishments and the associated maintenance of facilities.

These may include, but are not limited to:

• Field Guiding
• Guest transfers
• Guest check ins and outs
• Taking photographs or video for use in marketing
• Vehicle maintenance
• Maintaining vehicle maintenance logbooks
• Anti-poaching patrols
• Game reserve work e.g. road maintenance, fence patrols, game capture and lodge maintenance.

At a lodge level, you may assist when needed with site inspections by tour operators, guest welcomes, staff transport, lodge delivery pick-ups, and all daily operations that may be required to operate an effective and seamless safari camp operation.

Contribute towards the continued improvement of operations at the Lodge and the game drive experience, constantly ensuring that standards are maintained and looking at areas that can be enhanced.

Qualifications

• FGASA Level 1
• Full ARH Competency
• Valid PrDP

Skills

It is the responsibility of the candidate to make sure that all the relevant documentation such as PDPs, DEDEAT registration, and 1st Aid are up to date before commencing employment. The successful candidate must be fluent in English and Afrikaans.

The position is live-in; the preferred leave cycle is 3 weeks on, 1 week off. If you are a strong candidate from out of province and fit well with our team, we would be happy to consider 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off.
