Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Attorney and Conveyancer to join their dynamic team. The role will involve not only conveyancing but also litigation work, as the firm operates as a general commercial practice.
You will be responsible for :
- Drafting and reviewing transfer documents for residential, commercial, and sectional title properties.
- Managing the full conveyancing process from instruction to registration.
- Liaising with Deeds Office, municipalities, estate agents, clients, and banks.
- Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements relating to property transfers.
- Attending to bond registrations and bond cancellations.
- Preparing and interpreting property-related agreements, including offers to purchase and sale agreements.
Litigation (Commercial & General) :
- Handling a range of commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract, debt recovery, and property disputes.
- Drafting and filing court pleadings, affidavits, and legal correspondence.
- Managing case files through High Court and Magistrates’ Court processes.
- Providing legal opinions and strategic litigation advice to clients.
- Attending court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations as required.
- Liaising with clients, counsel, and third parties regarding case development.
General :
- Conducting legal research to support matters in both conveyancing and litigation.
- Supporting clients with legal consulting services in line with a general commercial law practice.
- Ensuring efficient and professional client service at all times.
- Staying abreast of legislative developments relevant to both conveyancing and litigation.
Qualifications
- LLB Degree.
- Admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer.
Skills
The successful candidate will have :
- Conveyancing expertise : Full knowledge of property transfers (freehold, sectional title, estate late, developments, etc.)
- Litigation experience : Ability to manage general litigation matters – commercial disputes, contractual matters, evictions, debt recovery, etc.
- Excellent Drafting skills : Strong legal drafting ability for contracts, pleadings, conveyancing documents, and litigation-related documents.
- Strong Legal research & interpretation : Confident in researching statutes, case law, and providing legal opinions.
