Job description

Job title: Smelter Sampling Floor Supervisor

Location: Gauteng, Johannesburg | Deadline: August 11, 2025

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure customer deposits and internal by-products are sampled according to the Theory of Sampling, adhering to budgeted turnaround times, costs, and SHEQ protocols.
  2. Lead operational planning aligned with organizational strategies, following good sampling practices, SOPs, and systems consistent with the company's strategy.
  3. Interpret, evaluate, and direct sampling information and protocols in accordance with Rand Refinery's business requirements.
  4. Establish and maintain production, quality, and safety control measures.
  5. Sample Smelter customer deposits as per plans and customer contractual agreements.
  6. Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly duties for stock evaluation and metal balance control.
  7. Investigate safety and quality deviations and provide feedback to management.
  8. Ensure timely submission and verification of daily reports.
  9. Train and develop subordinates and plan for succession.
  10. Maintain high security standards, minimize risks, and implement key control procedures, including locking high-value deposits, proper documentation, and feedback management.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a metallurgical or smelter environment.
  • Preferably 2+ years in a supervisory role, with supervisory training experience being advantageous.
