Job summary

Wasion seeks a proactive technical support specialist to assist customers with testing, configuration, and troubleshooting of smart meters and related devices. You will analyze data, collect requirements, and communicate findings to engineering and product teams.

Your role includes field testing, firmware upgrades, and on-site visits across South Africa, with occasional short domestic travel. A National Diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with basic wiring knowledge and strong

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical, electronic or communication technologies is preferred.
• Proficiency with common office software and basic data/document handling.
• Ability to read basic electrical wiring diagrams and product documentation.
• Experience in technical support for smart meters or AMI is advantageous.
• Solid problem-analysis and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of a local SA language in addition to English is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily technical support for smart meters, DCUs and related products.
• Assist customers with product testing, laboratory testing, field testing and acceptance activities.
• Perform product parameter configuration, firmware upgrades, log collection and basic fault analysis.
• Assist in troubleshooting common technical issues including communication, registration, meter reading and relay control.
• Collect and document customer technical requirements and on-site issues, and feed back to relevant departments in a timely manner.
• Track technical issue progress and drive issues to closure.
• Assist in preparing technical documentation and project-related materials.
• Support sample preparation, project delivery, FAT and after-sales technical work.
• Undertake customer site visits and short-term domestic travel within South Africa as required by projects.
