Job description

SAAO is seeking to appoint a site supervisor for the Sutherland site to ensure that all infrastructure is effectively and efficiently operational and maintained to the required standard.

Responsible for supervising and coordinating the SAAO Sutherland team responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all infrastructure, including buildings, roads, water reticulation, electrical infrastructure, vehicle fleet, refuse removal, firefighting systems, and the environment. Ensure that all infrastructure is operational and maintained to the required standard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Report to the SAAO Facility Manager (Sutherland).
• Supervise and coordinate SAAO Sutherland Site personnel regarding infrastructure maintenance and upgrades.
• Assist and support general maintenance activities.
• Ensure completion of work to satisfaction.
• Prepare documentation for procurement.
• Supervise contractors working on site projects.
• Coordinate vehicle fleet management and allocation.
• Transport personnel and stakeholders.
• Implement and enforce Occupational Health and Safety policies.
• Ensure compliance with construction and electrical regulations.
• Maintain technical integrity of site infrastructure.
• Respond to emergencies and urgent issues.
• Contribute to budgets, forecasts, and business plans.

Key Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Minimum Electrical Trade Test Certificate with N3 Technical certificate.
• Valid driver’s license; Code C1 advantageous.

Experience:

• At least 5 years in Facility Management or related field, including 3 years in MV/LV electrical distribution.
• Proven supervisory experience.

Knowledge:

• Project and Contract Management.
• South African Standards (SANS) for power supply and distribution.
• Public sector supply chain legislation.
• Construction industry legislation.
• Occupational Health and Safety.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Reading electrical and instrumentation drawings.
