Job summary

Sanitech a division of WACO Africa is seeking a Safety Officer to act as safety representative for all safety-related matters at on-site mines and Sasol project sites. The role includes maintaining and updating required safety files and ensuring compliance across projects.

You will update staff details, PPE registers, licenses, training records, and monthly documentation submissions to safety departments. The ideal candidate has Matric, a Health and Safety qualification, and strong communication

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 (Matric) and a Health and Safety Certificate or Diploma.
• Awareness and Implementation Training as a plus.
• Excellent knowledge of mines is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good interpersonal skills and systematic approach.
• Proficient in reading and writing in English.
• Own vehicle with valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all Sanitech staff attend required medicals and induction to work on site.
• Ensure staff and vehicles are properly badged and expiry dates tracked.
• Update safety files with licences, badges, medicals and training records.
• Obtain new badges and permits for vehicles when licenses expire or contracts extend.
• Prepare appointment letters for Sanitech personnel on mines.
• Update exit medicals and remove leavers from safety files.
• Ensure new staff understand safety requirements for different mines/sites.
• Communicate Sasol policies and procedures to staff on Sasol sites.
• Attend safety meetings at mines and report back to Branch manager weekly.
• Record safety meeting outcomes in a toolbox talk register.
