Position: Quality Specialist in Structural, Mechanical, Piping, and Platework (SMPP)

This role ensures projects meet quality standards and industry regulations, overseeing fabrication, installation, and inspection across these disciplines.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Review and approve fabrication drawings and procedures.
  2. Provide technical guidance and support to fabrication and installation teams.
  3. Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  4. Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures.
  5. Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  6. Identify and address quality issues or non-conformances.
  7. Maintain quality records and documentation.
  8. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  9. Monitor project progress and identify potential quality risks.
  10. Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely and quality delivery.
  11. Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  12. Stay up to date with industry’s best practices and emerging technologies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant technical diploma or degree, plus several years of experience in construction, quality assurance, and knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience in construction within industries such as mining, petrochemical, or manufacturing, including mining projects in a similar EPCM environment.
  • Appropriate qualification related to inspections.
  • Experience with control systems, transformers, power distribution, fire, gas, HVAC systems.
  • Experience with high voltage equipment, switchgear, UPS, and emergency power systems.
  • Ability to work with vendors/contractors and develop good working relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
  • Decision-making abilities and report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and experience with quality control and inspection related to fabrication and construction.
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, document control, change management, project controls, safety, environmental, industrial relations, construction, resource, and risk management.
  • Quality assurance experience with project compliance and adherence to procedures and policies.
  • Explosion Proof (EX) Hazardous Location Training.
  • EPCM exposure.
