Our client in the construction industry based in Mossel Bay is on a recruitment drive for a site / project manager. The ideal candidate MUST be hands-on and have excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist with project scheduling of new, renovation, and maintenance projects.
- Focus primarily on maintenance projects, with assistance in new and renovation builds.
- Manage staff training, mentoring, development, and scheduling across various sites, including handling staff issues and disciplinary actions (verbal/written warnings).
- Allocate duties and set targets/objectives for staff on-site.
- Ensure all necessary products, materials, and tools are available for staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Sourcing materials, obtaining quotes, and negotiating with suppliers for the best prices.
- Submit all quotes to the administration department for procurement.
- Collect urgent materials/products as required.
- Rotate between projects to monitor staff progress against scope of work.
- Liaise with owners, HOA, and tenants to maintain excellent relationships.
- Assist with quotations for additional work added to projects.
- Collect staff at the end of the day and review materials and work completed.
- Supervise daily operations to ensure work meets quality standards and presents the company well.
- Maintain stock in the yard through daily cycle counts and general stock counts.
- Check all stock used on-site to ensure profitability.
- Manage all Occupational Health and Safety requirements on sites.
- Assist with new call-outs, attend site inspections, and record notes and measurements.
- Prepare quotations for owner approval.
- Perform any other ad hoc duties as required by management.
Qualifications:
- Matric or technical matric.
- Technical qualification is advantageous; all-round building knowledge including plumbing, tiling, electrical, waterproofing, painting, etc., is preferred.
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
- Ability to handle and manage multiple projects.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Excellent numerical skills.
- Hands-on leadership style, leading by example.
- Stay updated with industry standards and requirements.
- Honest with sober habits.
