Job description

Our client in the construction industry based in Mossel Bay is on a recruitment drive for a site / project manager. The ideal candidate MUST be hands-on and have excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Assist with project scheduling of new, renovation, and maintenance projects.
2. Focus primarily on maintenance projects, with assistance in new and renovation builds.
3. Manage staff training, mentoring, development, and scheduling across various sites, including handling staff issues and disciplinary actions (verbal/written warnings).
4. Allocate duties and set targets/objectives for staff on-site.
5. Ensure all necessary products, materials, and tools are available for staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
6. Sourcing materials, obtaining quotes, and negotiating with suppliers for the best prices.
7. Submit all quotes to the administration department for procurement.
8. Collect urgent materials/products as required.
9. Rotate between projects to monitor staff progress against scope of work.
10. Liaise with owners, HOA, and tenants to maintain excellent relationships.
11. Assist with quotations for additional work added to projects.
12. Collect staff at the end of the day and review materials and work completed.
13. Supervise daily operations to ensure work meets quality standards and presents the company well.
14. Maintain stock in the yard through daily cycle counts and general stock counts.
15. Check all stock used on-site to ensure profitability.
16. Manage all Occupational Health and Safety requirements on sites.
17. Assist with new call-outs, attend site inspections, and record notes and measurements.
18. Prepare quotations for owner approval.
19. Perform any other ad hoc duties as required by management.

Qualifications:

1. Matric or technical matric.
2. Technical qualification is advantageous; all-round building knowledge including plumbing, tiling, electrical, waterproofing, painting, etc., is preferred.
3. Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
4. Valid driver’s license.
5. Minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
6. Ability to handle and manage multiple projects.
7. Organized and detail-oriented.
8. Excellent numerical skills.
9. Hands-on leadership style, leading by example.
10. Stay updated with industry standards and requirements.
11. Honest with sober habits.
