Our client based in Gauteng is seeking a Site Managing Director to join their team. This would be a 6-month Contract.
To act externally in the capacity of CEO on behalf of the Company to fulfill the vision of the company by managing relationships with stakeholders and providing sound internal and external leadership.
Internally, the role requires the incumbent to act as Director, with executive responsibilities to the board, ensuring performance objectives are met and effectively managing sub-contractors. The above delivery is made possible by implementing an approved strategic plan.
In addition, the individual will have responsibility:
- for the total P&L of the company’s contract
- to report to the Board of Directors through the appointed Chairman, satisfying all South African legal and commercial obligations (as part of the concession agreement)
- to provide leadership in directing all company resources and managing all assigned company assets, including internal and external supply contracts in fulfillment of the Maintenance Commercial Contract under agreement with the BOC.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Resume main responsibility for safety in the organization
- Effective execution of board responsibilities
- Achievement of agreed targets
- Effective execution of the company transformation process
- Effective development, implementation, and measurement of the MEP (Margin Enhancement Plan)
- Effective post-project support and provision of continuing maintenance service to the Operator
- Effective executive-level contract management (with associated compliance, governance, and negotiation)
- Effective stakeholder relationship management
- Effective leadership and people management
- Effective self-management
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
GENERAL:
- 8-10+ years of management experience (preferably in a multi-national organisation)
- Executive-level contract management, with a proven track record of successful contract negotiation
- Proven track record in leading a large team (100+ people), driving sustainability and service for contract renewal and business growth
- Proven track record in achieving profitability and 100% compliance with SLAs
- Sound knowledge of relevant industries – transport and rail
- Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills
COMPANY:
- Sound knowledge of the company’s vision, values, and strategy
- Understanding of how strategy translates into successful business execution
- Knowledge of the integration model between the company and the overarching business
- Familiarity with company policies, procedures, and governance requirements
- Knowledge of the company’s supply chain and related processes
- Understanding of relevant customers and stakeholders
- Knowledge of the Maintenance and Services divisions
ROLE:
- Understanding of directorship responsibilities
- Knowledge of customer relationships and related agreements
- Expertise in business deliverables such as P&L, profitability, and renewals
- Knowledge of sound corporate governance practices
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Education: Post-graduate degree (business qualification); MBA highly advantageous
- Training / Experience: Previous experience in a similar position
- Number of Subordinates: approximately 150
