The Role & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager or other appointed manager as necessary, the Installation Team Leader (ITL) is a hands-on supervisor of and technical advisor to photovoltaic (PV) system installation teams.

The ITL is client-facing, ensuring successful coordination of installation works with and utmost satisfaction of the customer.

Primary scope responsibility is the PV array inclusive of all related mechanical, structural, and architectural works, but competency on electrical works is advantageous.

The ITL assumes responsibility for onsite training and development of the assigned crew and consistently drives a high-performance culture in line with challenging company performance goals.

Although safety is everyone's responsibility, the position also leads and prioritizes efforts and practices that establish and engrain safe working practices and culture by the installation team.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • National Diploma as a Trade Tested Building / Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Technician / Journeyman with a minimum of five years of post-qualification field experience.
  • PV installation experience, including a track record of leading an installation crew of at least five workers would be advantageous.
  • Proficient in the installation of various types of roof-mount racking systems, PV panels, grid-tied inverters, batteries, and other associated equipment.
  • Understand related building, structural, and electrical codes / regulations that relate to PV installations.
  • Able to read, follow, and / or explain architectural, structural, and electrical installation drawings and other technical documentation.
  • Able to clearly report work status and or issues for technical escalation and resolution.
  • Must be very organized with an eye for detail, driven, and always able to make a plan to meet aggressive timelines without compromise to quality or safety.
  • Assertive leader with a strong sense of team, able to work with varied personalities.
  • Physically fit and stable, able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs and work at heights (on roofs) often handling tools / equipment.
  • Prepared to work in outdoor environments throughout the year.
  • Friendly and positive demeanor, and able to communicate with customers in a respectful professional ambassadorial manner – excellent customer service skills.
  • Good written and spoken English skills.
  • Good computer skills and confident use of productivity and communication applications.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record (no endorsements).
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal, driving, and drug screen.
