Qualifications

Job description

Resident Site Engineer - Newcastle

Responsibilities:

  1. Act as the Engineer's representative on site, communicate daily with the Principal Engineer, and provide updates on site details.
  2. Read and understand all drawings/documentation issued to site.
  3. Maintain records of every drawing issued.
  4. Oversee bulk earthworks and selected earthworks related to trenches.
  5. Supervise new concrete, brickwork (new and existing), and roof construction.
  6. Manage demolitions and existing works.
  7. Oversee new water (reticulation and wet services), sewer (reticulation and wet services), and stormwater systems, including manholes.
  8. Supervise the construction of new access roads and security walls.
  9. Ensure all works comply with issued drawings and confirm dimensions or levels are strictly adhered to.
  10. Check trench excavated foundations and liaise with the geotechnical team.
  11. Sign off on foundations and prepare all documentation for inspections and approvals.
  12. Review and sign off on reinforcement and blinding prior to concrete pouring.
  13. Conduct concrete test cubes, check lab results, witness pours, and sign off on work.
  14. Inspect structural formwork and scaffolding, providing feedback on safety.
  15. Supervise demolition ensuring safety compliance.
  16. Verify all dimensions and ensure works align with drawings.
  17. Sign off on completed work and prepare related paperwork.
  18. Approve civil works related to water, sanitation, stormwater, and roadways, including testing for approvals.
  19. Prepare as-built records on approved drawings.
  20. Check measurements prepared by QS and confirm accuracy.
  21. Issue site instructions as directed by the Engineer and manage the Site Instruction Book.
  22. Maintain a daily diary and sign off each day.
  23. Record minutes of meetings and prepare reports for site meetings.
  24. Keep accurate logs of all site activities, tests, and results.
  25. Coordinate site activities with the professional team.
  26. Attend site safety meetings, record minutes, and provide feedback.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified Engineer or Retired Engineer (Civils or Structural) with valid Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng (CIVILS / STRUCTURAL) status.
  • 10+ years of experience in multistorey buildings, civils, and structural work.
