Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Johannesburg is seeking a Site Electrical Engineer to support on-site construction, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The ideal candidate will hold a BSc/B.Eng in Electrical Engineering and have 5–10 years of on-site electrical experience on large industrial projects, with a willingness to work a 6/2 rotation and coordinate with contractors.

Qualifications

• BSc/B.Eng in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5–10 years’ experience in electrical engineering on construction or site-based projects.
• Experience on large multidisciplinary industrial/mining/infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of construction, installation, and commissioning processes.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Good communication, coordination, and site problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with HSEC standards and site safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily technical support to construction teams and contractors.
• Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and layout documents for on-site execution.
• Conduct field inspections to verify electrical installations meet design, quality, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with the design office to resolve RFIs and site queries.
• Support testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
• Ensure on-site electrical scope is delivered safely, on time, and to quality standards.
