Site Driver - Mining - Long-term Contract - Kathu Northern Cape

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Safety, Health, and Environment:

• Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental practices and requirements.
• SHE policies and procedures.
• Escalate all unsafe practices or risks to the direct supervisor/manager.
• Support good housekeeping in the department and on-site to ensure compliance.
• Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.

Performance and Delivery:

• Transport employees and consultants to and from the airport.
• Transport owner's team members to and from work sites for inspections.
• Inspect fleet vehicles regularly.
• Escalate two months in advance to the next level of authority when the vehicle licence is due to expire.
• Arrange servicing and maintenance of fleet vehicles.
• Manage vehicle license renewals.
• Transport nurses, medical personnel, and trainers to contractor laydown and work areas as needed.
• Fulfil general delivery tasks and meet the needs of the Project as a driver.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12
• Driver's license with code C1 and PDP, and excellent driving skills.
• 1-2 years of operation experience as a driver on a mine.
• Understanding of the South African road safety laws and regulations.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures.
• Familiarity with local and regional routes and traffic patterns.
• Awareness of mine protocols for transportation and delivery.
• Ability to manage time effectively to ensure timely transportation and deliveries.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members, reporting issues, and communicating updates to passengers.
• Ability to handle unexpected situations, such as traffic delays or vehicle issues.
• Competent in managing service schedules, license renewals, and delivery requirements.
• Professional and courteous attitude.
• Dependable and trustworthy, ensuring passengers can rely on timely and safe transportation.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, routes, and passenger needs.
• Clear criminal record.
• Able to pass a site medical.
• Own vehicle and valid driver's license.

About The Employer:

My client, a leading mining company, is looking for a Site Driver to join their team in Kathu for a long-term contract. Reporting to the SHE Section Manager, the successful individual will be responsible for transporting both Head Office and site-based resources, including clients and owners' team members, to designated construction areas within the mine, as well as to and from other locations. Preference will be given to candidates who are in the area.
