Key Performance Areas:

Promoting, managing, enforcing and monitoring of HSE requirements onsite

  • Ensure safe working environment as per OHS Act and Construction regulations
  • Ensure discipline and compliance amongst site team and sub-contractors

  • Active participation in HSE committee meetings

Taking complete responsibility and accountability for the overall quality compliance of the project under control:

  • Extensive knowledge of the project specifications
  • Complete comprehension of the company quality system as well as the associated compliance documentation i.e project quality plans, quality control plans, work instructions and associated checklists and registers
  • Assist and oversee the implementation and maintenance of the quality management system
  • Manage and control non-conformities by participation and regular liaising with the quality department
  • Approval of works as contemplated by quality control plans and relevant checklists
  • Specific checks on surveying and setting out
  • Discussions with project team in terms of the effectiveness of control measures

Production: Drives short and long term planning and programming:

  • Compile detailed contract programme at outset of project in conjunction with detailed method statements, information required schedule and long-lead schedule
  • Update and monitor contract programme on at least a monthly basis
  • Supervise the compiling and updating of short-term programmes by Foremen on at least fortnightly basis
  • Compile recovery programme where slippage experienced and practice customer focused approach to delivery project within contractual timelines
  • Conduct regular planning meetings with site staff
  • Conduct subcontractor start-up meetings and weekly subcontractor planning meetings

Manage and monitor project costs, ensuring profit optimisation:

  • Assist QS in compiling the project life cycle documentation at project start-up to assess financial risks
  • Assist QS in the compiling of the CSS report and attend all CSS meetings
  • Monitor actual contract costs versus agreed budgets and monitor material/labour and subcontractor budget
  • Maximise monthly cashflow and turnover through production, early procurement and assist QS with claim
  • Have a thorough understanding of the contract documentation including BoQ and implementation thereof

Customer / stakeholder management:

  • Maintain professional relationships with client, consultant, subcontractor and supplier stakeholders
  • Ensure team conduct in accordance with brand and company standard
  • Ensure team performance contributes to positive customer experience and customer satisfaction metrics
  • Manage site staff and workers according to company’s values, developing and mentoring them
