Job summary

A leading mining contractor in Johannesburg is seeking a Sinking Training Officer to develop training material and provide in-person training. Ideal candidates will have a matric certificate, shaft sinking experience, and relevant certifications. This full-time role involves training delivery, competence assessments, and communication with site management. Candidates must be medically fit to work underground.

Qualifications

• 3 Years’ Shaft Sinking experience as a Sinker/Stagehand.
• 2 Years’ experience as a Shaft Foreman.
• In-depth knowledge of Shaft Sinking and Equipping.
• Knowledge of HIRA and MQA Skills programs.

Responsibilities

• Development of standard operating procedures and lesson plans.
• Training Material Developer for modern learning content.
• Providing training in person and managing recordkeeping.
• Competence assessments and remedial coaching.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric certificate/ equivalent
• Blasting and Onsetters ticket
• Competent Person A & B
• Computer Literacy on Microsoft suite of programs
• Facilitators, Assessors certification or ETDP Level 4
• Moderator certification will be an added advantage
• Must be able to comply with Client screening requirements
• Medically fit to work underground

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• 3 Years’ Shaft Sinking experience as a Sinker / Stagehand (Combined)
• 2 Years’ experience as a Shaft Foreman
• Must have in depth knowledge of Shaft Sinking and Equipping
• Knowledge of HIRA
• Must have Knowledge of the MQA Skills programs
• Experience in leading a team
• Ability to communicate with all levels of management and with crews
