Job summary

Route Management is seeking a Shunter Driver based in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. The role involves safely moving trucks and trailers, conducting daily inspections, and assisting in the workshop with maintenance tasks.

Candidates must have a valid Code 14 driver’s licence and a Professional Driving Permit, along with at least three years of experience as a shunter driver. Basic mechanical knowledge will be a plus. This position may require flexible working hours.

Qualifications

• Valid Code 14 driver’s licence (essential).
• Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit).
• Minimum three (3) years of experience.
• Proven experience as a shunter driver or similar role.
• Basic mechanical knowledge or experience in a workshop environment will be an advantage.
• Ability to work flexible hours if required.

Shunter Duties

• Ensure correct positioning of vehicles for loading/offloading
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any defects
• Follow all safety procedures and traffic regulations on-site

Workshop Duties

• Assist workshop personnel with basic repair and maintenance tasks
• Keep the workshop clean, organised and safe
• Support with moving vehicles in and out of repair bays
• Handle tools and equipment responsibly
