In this 12 month Fixed Term contract, the Shopper Data Analyst is essential in leveraging retailer data and shopper loyalty card insights to identify growth opportunities and enhance brand performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to interpret complex data, uncover meaningful trends, and provide actionable recommendations that drive business success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Shopper Data Expert

  • Develop data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making for Trade Marketing and Sales teams.
  • Create Shopper insight through thorough analysis of multiple data sources (offtake sales data, shopper data, local & global shopper insights)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, category management, and sales, to align data insights with business objectives.
  • Take ownership of shopper insight studies and build summaries to share with the relevant stakeholders.

Loyalty Card Knowledge:

  • Analyze retailer and shopper loyalty card data to identify patterns, trends, and growth opportunities.
  • Work closely with retail partners to optimize data usage and enhance shopper engagement strategies.
  • Apply shopper knowledge to relevant occasions and channels and share with teams to influence at store level.
  • Analyze shopping patterns to identify in-store opportunities and work closely with retail media agencies to implement growth strategies.

Post Campaign Analyses:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, promotions, and in-store activations using shopper data analytics.
  • Provide feedback on each campaign and highlight what works well and where we need to improve
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging data technologies, and best practices in shopper analytics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in Category, Insights analyses or Key Account sales in the FMCG industry.
  • This highly analytical, organized, and self-motivated individual must have the ability to draw insights from multiple complex data sources.
  • Excellent analytical skills are needed not only to evaluate, but to provide useful, actionable tools that are clear, meaningful, and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Experience working with syndicated data (Nielsen & IRI) and shopper metrics.
  • Experience working with retailer platforms and loyalty card Data
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Powerpoint.
  • In-depth knowledge of the FMCG industry and South African Retail Industry.
  • Strong project management and planning competencies.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are required to express analytics and deliver presentations to various levels in the organization.
