Job summary

Sasol is seeking an experienced mining professional at Secunda, Mpumalanga, to coach and guide personnel towards high-performance teams in mining operations. You will ensure safe practices, comply with mining regulations, and drive cost and KPI targets across shifts.

With 6+ years in mining and a blasting certificate, you will lead by example, plan effectively, supervise maintenance, and deliver results aligned to budget and safety standards.

Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or N3 is required.
• Valid Blasting Certificate for Fiery Mines is required.
• Minimum 6+ years of relevant mining experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and lead day-to-day activities to meet KPIs for safe coal production.
• Ensure equipment downtime, shift planning, MTTR/MTTF, and maintenance programs.
• Adhere to SOPs, governance bodies and safety legislation.
• Ensure availability of spares, equipment and resources; govern electronic timekeeping.
• Perform root-cause analysis of failures and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate planning to meet Rand per ton targets and budgeted volumes.
• Control costs to achieve production within budget and reporting calendar.

Purpose of Job

To provide coaching and guidance to personnel in order to create high performance teams capable of reaching targets related to mining operations and activities, in a safe manner.

To execute statutory duties according to relevant Mining regulation.

Key Accountabilities

• Carries out on a day to day basis planning, organizing, control and leadership that ensure that departments KPIs are met to produce safe coal by ensuring tons / cm / shift.
• Availability of Equipment Downtime / shift / MTTF /MTTR (infrastructure and inspection equipment) Adherence to Overhaul / maintenance program â plan vs. actual Implements operational projects, ensures operating compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP in appointed area of responsibility).
• Ensures adherence to Operating principles and legislation.
• Compliance to governance bodies (standardization committees) SOP / COP implementation and adherence.
• Ensures availability of spares, equipment and resources required to ensure optimal precautions, including governance of Electronic time keeping.
• Total cost of ownership (TCO) Electronic time keeping system adherence.
• Provides first line solutions to employees reporting to him / her on any technical related problem Problems resolved.
• Failure trend analysis and root cause elimination.
• Support departments to achieve set targets by coordinating planning within appointed area of responsibility Rand per ton (R/t, Tons per CM per shift (t/cm/shift) Volumes vs. monthly TQF (Including Quality).
• Control costs to ensure production volumes are achieved within budget.
• Delivery against budget and reporting calendar vs. target.
• Ensure best in class safety performance and continuous improvement of key safety metrics to maintain required RCR.
• SHE compliance rates vs. targets (especially major findings, % outstanding actions on findings) Zero harm, Zero fatalities, LWDCR.
• Provide on the job training, coaching and career development.
• Training days for department.
• Planned Task observations.
• Coaching of employees Engagement of employees.
