Job Role: Shift Plant Operator

As a Shift Plant Operator, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Shift Plant Foreman and Deputy Shift Foreman to produce and finish products efficiently and safely, meeting planned Sales and Operations requirements.

  1. Review the handover book and complete ongoing tasks from the previous shift.
  2. Place raw materials on the production floor and prepare necessary solutions.
  3. Manage the removal of empty containers post-charging and ensure proper setup of filtering equipment for product filtration into bulk storage or drums, while monitoring for spills.
  4. Verify the accuracy of filled product weights and ensure they meet Quality Control standards.
  5. Collect and prepare empty drums for filling, ensuring stencil markings are correct.
  6. Record daily dips of bulk stock tanks and other required data, while maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards.
  7. Clean equipment as needed, including basket strainers and cooling vessels.
  8. Assist in monitoring the Distributed Control System (DCS) and scrubbers.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Completed Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
  • Minimum NQF Level 2 qualification in Chemical Operations learnership.
  • Valid forklift license.
  • Previous experience in a chemical or dispersions plant.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSACT).
  • Commitment to safety and high housekeeping standards.
