SHIFT MANAGER - RETAIL - East | North Rand

An exciting opportunity for someone with 3-5 years of retail supermarket experience.

This role involves overseeing the daily operations of our retail supermarket during your designated shifts. You will be responsible for ensuring the store runs smoothly, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Your leadership skills and ability to motivate a team will be essential in driving sales, maintaining high standards of customer service, and achieving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage retail staff, including floor staff and cashiers, during assigned shifts.
  2. Meet financial goals by analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions, preparing annual budgets, formulating pricing policies, and scheduling expenditures.
  3. Provide guidance, support, and training to team members to ensure exceptional customer service and product knowledge.
  4. Ensure pricing accuracy.
  5. Evaluate staff performance and conduct on-the-job assessments.
  6. Identify market trends that appeal to customers.
  7. Ensure products are clean, well-displayed, and in stock.
  8. Ensure promotions are accurate and aligned with company standards.
  9. Maintain health and safety standards, store cleanliness, and hygiene.
  10. Monitor local competitors and market conditions.
  11. Ensure compliance with local laws regarding hours of operation.
  12. Organize and distribute staff schedules.
  13. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and escalations professionally and promptly.
  14. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  15. Assist in implementing promotional activities and marketing initiatives to boost sales.
  16. Participate in stock takes as required.
  17. Manage security protocols, including locking/unlocking premises and activating alarm systems.
  18. Ensure all keys, safes, and essential security measures are secured.
  19. Attend to daily cash reconciliations with accuracy.
  20. Collaborate with other shift managers and store management to meet business objectives.
  21. Report to the General Manager/Operations and support the administration manager as needed.
