Job description

Shift Laboratory Analyst

Our client is seeking a Shift Laboratory Analyst responsible for conducting quality control in accordance with the Quality Management System. The role involves performing analytical services to meet client needs and comply with the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority requirements.

The analyst will carry out analytical methods, adhere to standard operating procedures, and report results with high precision and accuracy to ensure high-quality analytical services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform analytical tasks assigned by laboratory management, including chromatographic analysis, dissolution testing, IR testing, UV testing, titrations, and physical tests.
  2. Validate analytical methods and collaborate on method development with senior analysts and management.
  3. Complete relevant logbooks and calibrate apparatus according to SOPs and calibration programs.
  4. Ensure all determinations follow provided methods, with deviations authorized by QA Manager or responsible personnel.
  5. Maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with Good Documentation, Manufacturing, and Laboratory practices.
  6. Prepare reagents accurately, document all relevant details, and optimize apparatus utilization.
  7. Document non-conformities and ensure raw data compliance with ALCOA guidelines.
  8. Perform duties as per laboratory schedules and management requests, ensuring productivity and safety.
  9. Keep work areas clean and adhere to health and safety policies.
  10. Follow additional instructions from management as required.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
  • Computer literacy with analytical software.
  • Relevant diploma or degree in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years laboratory experience, including HPLC.
  • Strong communication, deadline-driven, quality-focused, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
