Job summary

A leading packaging firm in Johannesburg is seeking a Production Supervisor to manage the packaging team and ensure quality and safety standards are consistently met. The ideal candidate will have a National Diploma or Matric with relevant technical qualifications and 3-5 years of supervisory experience in production, preferably in FMCG or packaging. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for optimizing workflow and fostering a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the packaging team during assigned shifts.
• Ensure production targets, quality, and safety standards are met consistently.
• Allocate resources, plan workflow, and monitor productivity.
• Train, coach, and mentor operators to maintain high performance and adherence to procedures.
• Monitor equipment performance, report breakdowns, and coordinate maintenance support.
• Conduct shift handovers, report production progress, and document key issues.
• Enforce compliance with HACCP, GMP, ISO, and OHS standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
• Foster a positive, safe, and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications & Experience

• National Diploma / Matric with relevant technical qualifications.
• Minimum 35 years experience in production supervision, preferably in packaging or FMCG.
• Knowledge of packaging machinery, production processes, and workflow management.
• Familiarity with quality management systems and safety regulations.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
