Job description

We are seeking a SHEQ Officer who is energetic, vibrant, driven, fast paced & hands-on to support SHEQ systems & compliance across various operational sites. Responsible for assisting with inspections, audits, incident investigations & safety file management.

Experience :

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a SHEQ role.
  • Experience in the hazardous waste, hazmat, or environmental services industry will be advantageous.
  • Exposure to or experience in the mining sector is preferred.
  • Competence in compiling and maintaining safety files.

Qualifications & Certifications :

  • Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent
  • SACPCMP Registration (Must have).

Completed training in the following :

  • Fall Protection Planner
  • Legal Liability
  • First Aid (Level 1 minimum)
  • Fire Fighting (Basic / Intermediate)

Key Responsibilities :

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of SHEQ management systems.
  • Assist with conducting risk assessments, site inspections, and audits.
  • Help maintain legal compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Compile and manage site safety files for various projects.
  • Assist in incident investigations and reporting.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement among staff.
  • Liaise with team leads, supervisors, and clients to ensure SHEQ requirements are met on-site.
  • Provide SHEQ-related training and toolbox talks where necessary.
  • This position includes standby duties for emergency response, requiring flexibility, commitment, and the ability to act under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and high level of integrity.
  • Confident in enforcing safety protocols and procedures.

Basic + overtime + standby + laptop and company phone. Basic is CTC depending on experience and qualifications
