Job description

Our client is looking for a SHEQ Officer to join them in the Waste Management Industry.

Job Specification :
  1. Meet ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and legal compliance as stipulated within the SHEQ management system and at the direction of the Compliance Manager.
  2. Conduct audits and inspections on landfills, recyclers, waste licenses, and major clients.
  3. Assist in logistical safety management, including checks, inspections, and compliance-related matters.
  4. Provide SHEQ operational compliance coverage in other depots and projects, such as integrated contracts and new projects.
  5. Investigate accidents, incidents, and injuries; provide root cause analysis and containment actions.
  6. Manage the Safety, Environmental & Quality Risk & Impact assessment program.
  7. Conduct SHEQ training sessions.
  8. Manage SHE committees, including meetings, safety representatives, and related programs.
  9. Perform facility inspections for fire hazards, infrastructure, and general hazards.
  10. Manage the non-conformance system, including reporting, investigation, and closure.
  11. Assist sales with SHEQ requirements and tender processes, including customer audits.
  12. Ensure site activities comply with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  13. Maintain permits and licenses, apply for new ones, and provide SAWIS and NMBM with OES waste data.
  14. Manage the KSF program for site improvements and projects.
  15. Promote a SHEQ culture by influencing employee mindset.
  16. Encourage sound Environmental, Safety, Health, and Quality practices.
  17. Liaise with Regional and Compliance managers on sensitive matters.
  18. Refrain from making statements about incidents or practices without prior approval from the regional manager.
  19. Follow instructions related to SHEQ and compliance activities.
Qualifications :
  1. Diploma in Safety Management, SAMTRAC, RISKMAQ, or recognized SHEQ officer training.
  2. Operational experience of 1-2 years.
  3. SHEQ experience of 1-2 years.
  4. Knowledge of ISO standards (at least one: 9001, 14001, or 45001).
