At DHL Supply Chain South Africa, we are looking for a SHEQ Officer. The role involves:

  • Carrying out duties to an agreed level of performance and contributing to continuous improvement of administration processes.
  • Ensuring all risks are identified and assessed using recognized processes.
  • Facilitating effective risk management, implementing risk reduction measures, and establishing a SHE and Quality plan to meet targets within specific timeframes.
  • Identifying legal and other requirements and establishing early detection systems for non-compliance.
  • Managing all SHEQ functions, checklists, and audits for the distribution center.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and assisting with the appointment of Health and Safety Reps.
  • Providing ongoing training and communication to promote a safe, hygienic, and healthy work environment.
  • Conducting SHEQ and risk training, safety meetings, and monitoring SHEQ statistics.
  • Recording PPE issues, incidents, and accidents, and ensuring immediate action on risks.
  • Promoting a positive health and safety culture and ensuring KPI targets are met.
  • Participating in stock take activities and ensuring compliance with Good Distribution Practice, MCC, and SAPC requirements.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Matric (Grade 12) – Essential
  • SAMTRAC / NEBOSH / NOSA Tertiary qualification
  • Computer literacy
  • At least 2 years of practical health & safety experience
  • Knowledge of health & safety functions
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation, and planning skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and follow safety procedures
  • Good analytical, administrative, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Windows, email, and accounting packages
  • Effective communication at all levels
  • Strong HR and IR skills
