Duties & Responsibilities
  • Enforce Health & Safety culture within the JHB Region
  • Ensure availability of trained First Aiders, Safety Reps & Fire Fighters
  • Maintain first aid boxes with necessary kits
  • Conduct regular safety evacuation drills in accordance with the Health & Safety Strategy at all levels
  • Identify and manage Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality risks; implement risk controls across the region
  • Implement SHEQ systems in line with legislation & ISO standards
  • Establish SHE committees as per legislation
  • Investigate Health & Safety and Food incidents
  • Conduct SHEQ audits as prescribed by law and policy
  • Perform risk assessments as per policy
  • Compile and submit H&S reports for Regional/Segment Management
  • Conduct supplier audits and investigate supplier complaints
  • Provide compliance reports to Procurement and the National Health and Safety Manager
  • Pre-evaluate and assess potential new suppliers
Skills and Competencies
  • Safety Management Systems
  • Occupational Health & Safety Act and COIDA knowledge
  • Health & Safety System expertise
  • Knowledge of ISO 22000 and HACCP standards
  • Understanding of Catering and Food Safety, Food Production, Food Premises (COA’s), and basic engineering of Catering Equipment
  • Knowledge of Environmental legislation and Waste Management procedures
  • Incident investigation skills
  • Report writing and risk assessment capabilities
  • Dispute resolution and conflict management
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
