Job Title: Senior SHEQ Manager (Wheat & Maize Milling)

About the Role:

Our client, a leader in the food manufacturing sector, is seeking a Senior SHEQ Manager with proven expertise in wheat and maize milling, dry goods, and food safety systems. This individual will play a pivotal strategic role, not only overseeing compliance and operational excellence, but also laying the groundwork for executive-level responsibilities in the near future.

This is an exciting growth opportunity for a professional with a strong SHEQ, Pragma, and ISO/FSSC22000 background, coupled with experience in client management, export markets, and FDA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

? Compliance & Systems Management

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive SHEQ and Quality Management Systems in line with FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Maintain a robust Pragma maintenance management system integrated with quality and safety goals.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge and full regulatory compliance with both local and international standards.

? Quality Assurance & Food Safety Leadership

  • Oversee quality control across wheat and maize milling operations and dry goods production.
  • Conduct internal audits, drive continuous improvement, and lead root cause analysis and CAPA processes.
  • Ensure rigorous quality protocols and hygiene practices are implemented, monitored, and continuously improved.

? Client & Product Development Support

  • Engage directly with national and international clients to ensure product and quality expectations are exceeded.
  • Drive new product launches, ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance from concept to production.

? Export & FDA Compliance

  • Leverage experience in export markets to streamline product readiness for international distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations and maintain documentation required for global certification and audit readiness.

? Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)

  • Implement, manage, and monitor OHS protocols aligned with legal standards.
  • Lead risk assessments, safety training, and corrective actions to ensure a safe working environment.

? Training & Development

  • Conduct training for employees and department heads on SHEQ systems, FSSC compliance, OHS best practices, and process hygiene.
  • Build a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

? Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain all quality and SHEQ documentation, including SOPs, audit findings, client reports, and export records.
  • Provide regular, actionable reports to executive management, with strategic recommendations.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • ?? Minimum Qualification: National Diploma in Food Technology (Degree in Food Science, Quality or Engineering preferred)
  • ?? Experience: 5+ years in a senior SHEQ or Quality Assurance role within food manufacturing (wheat/maize milling essential)
  • ? Strong working knowledge of FSSC 22000, Pragma, and ISO standards
  • ?? Familiarity with export protocols and FDA compliance
  • ?? Proven ability to lead Occupational Health & Safety programs
  • ?? Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and client-facing communication skills
  • ?? Proficiency in audit preparation, incident investigation, and preventative planning
