Job description

POSITION : SHEQ MANAGER

SITE : BOKSBURG

DIVISION : CORRUGATED GAUTENG

PURPOSE OF THE JOB : Responsible for the complete operation of the production functions within the plant, including Corrugator, Printing, Smalls, Services, Material Handling, and Waste management.

Responsible for overseeing personnel (Health & Safety, development, productivity, and motivation), machinery (safety, maintenance, performance), and waste (control, record, reduction).

Ensures 5S practices throughout the Manufacturing Plant.

REPORTING TO :

Operations Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Implement appropriate procedural control measures.
  • Maintain sufficient physical safeguards, including safety PPE, for hazards.
  • Establish controls for common risks such as slips, trips, and falls.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  • Ensure training for all employees and external contractors.
  • Develop and maintain safe operating procedures.
  • Implement Health and Safety procedures.
  • Lead SHEQ-related continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain quality systems and certifications.
  • Ensure legal compliance with environmental laws.
  • Measure and improve the environmental impact of operations (carbon footprint, emissions, etc.).
  • Identify hazards.
  • Manage security on a day-to-day basis.
  • Close out insurable risks identified.
  • Manage projects effectively.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE :
  • BCom Degree / NQF Level 7 in SHEQ Management or related qualification.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a managerial role.
