Pro Select Consulting is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to lead environmental compliance and emissions management across our operations. The role requires ensuring regulatory licensing, monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement within a heavy industrial context.

The successful candidate will have 8–10 years of SHEQ experience, specialized knowledge of ISO standards, and a track record of liaising with regulators and auditors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with strong environmental emphasis.
  • 8–10 years SHEQ experience with environmental compliance responsibilities.
  • Proven experience managing air emissions, licenses, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience in heavy industrial sectors such as manufacturing, petrochemical, or energy.
  • ISO management systems knowledge (ISO 14001, ISO 45001; ISO 9001 a plus).
  • Auditing experience with regulators and external auditors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the environmental compliance programme and ensure adherence to legislation and permits.
  • Manage environmental authorizations, licenses, waste and air emissions licenses.

  • Monitor legislative changes and implement compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain emissions management systems and monitoring programmes.

  • Drive initiatives to reduce emissions and improve environmental performance.
  • Lead investigations and corrective actions for incidents and non-conformances.
  • Maintain SHEQ management systems aligned with ISO standards.
  • Lead internal and external SHEQ audits and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Ensure occupational health and safety compliance across operations.
  • Promote proactive SHEQ culture through training and leadership engagement.
  • Monitor performance metrics and report to executive management.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Identify optimization opportunities for environmental performance.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager with a strong environmental compliance and emissions management background to lead and drive our Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, managing environmental licenses and permits, overseeing emissions monitoring and reporting, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the business.

This role is ideally suited to candidates from manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, energy, or heavy industrial environments where environmental compliance and emissions management are critical operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company's environmental compliance programme and ensure adherence to all applicable environmental legislation, permits, licences, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage environmental authorizations, operating permits, waste licenses, air emissions licenses, and water-use licenses where applicable.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, auditors, and external stakeholders on environmental matters.
  • Monitor legislative developments and ensure timely implementation of compliance requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain emissions management systems and monitoring programmes.
  • Oversee emissions reporting, data collection, analysis, and submission to regulatory bodies.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce emissions, improve environmental performance, and support sustainability objectives.
  • Lead investigations into environmental incidents, non-conformances, and permit exceedances, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and maintain SHEQ management systems aligned with ISO standards and industry best practice.

  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements across all operations.
  • Promote a proactive SHEQ culture through training, awareness campaigns, and leadership engagement.

  • Develop mitigation strategies to minimize environmental and safety risks.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and improved environmental performance.
  • Support sustainability, decarbonization, and ESG initiatives where applicable.

Personal Attributes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years' SHEQ experience, including significant environmental compliance responsibilities.
  • Proven experience managing air emissions, environmental permits, licenses, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience within manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, mining, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, emissions regulations, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining ISO management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ideally ISO 9001).
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with regulatory authorities and external auditors.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Management, Sustainability, or SHEQ-related discipline.
  • Lead Auditor certification (ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001).
  • Professional registration with a relevant environmental or safety body.
  • Experience with greenhouse gas accounting, carbon reporting, ESG programms, and sustainability initiatives.
