Job description

Purpose:
To implement the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) management system, ensure compliance ISO 45001and ISO 14001 and relevant SHE legislation. To ensure compliance, and continual improvement of the SHE management system. Working through management, embed a proactive safety culture in pursuance of zero harm.

Main Responsibilities (not limited to):
• To support the SHE manger in the development of SHE strategies, policies, procedures and processes to embed desired SHE culture.
• To support the implementation, monitoring and improvement of an effective SHE management system.
• To ensure that all work activities within SABN are compliant to applicable SHE legislative requirements, policies and procedures.
• To maintain and improve processes and procedures to minimize risk of SHE incidents.
• To implement SHE emergency preparedness and response plans
• To develop and implement SHE awareness programmes to embed SHE culture
• To participate in the planning and execution of internal and external SHE audits.
• To identify ISO14001:2018 and ISO45001:2015 gaps and implement mitigating actions.
• To evaluate SHE risks assessments and provide support to departments for risk mitigation.
• To coordinate the incident management process, and ensure that it is effectively implemented.
• To maintain and improve effective contractor management processes to minimise SHE related risks for the organisation.
• To monitor and report on the company’s SHE performance.
• To manage the SHE administration process.
• To ensure health, safety and environmental regulations and standards are adhered to in line with the legal requirements.
• Perform SHE ad hoc duties as and when requested.

The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:
• National Diploma in Environmental Health / Safety Management/occupational health and safety related or similar qualification (Essential)
• SHE legislation training/qualification
• Contractor or construction management training
• Occupational hygiene training
• SHE Risk Assessment, Incident Investigation
• 2-3 years’ relevant experience in a SHE manufacturing environment

Knowledge and Skills:
• Hazard Identification Risk Assessments (HIRA)
• Risk mitigation
• Knowledge of SHE Legislation
• Root cause Analysis/ Incident Investigations
• ISO45001 and ISO 14001 standards
• Chemical Handling
