SHE Coordinator Position in Somerset West

A renowned international engineering company is seeking a SHE Coordinator to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis in Somerset West, Cape Town.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will oversee and implement the company's comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and practices across the organization. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout all departments.

Key duties include:

1. Implementing and monitoring the company's Integrated HSE Management System (ISO standards).
2. Managing service suppliers and contractors, including approving safety files and monitoring compliance on-site.
3. Conducting risk assessments with line management and updating the Risk Register.
4. Overseeing internal and external HSE audits, including scheduling and participation.
5. Investigating accidents and incidents, implementing corrective actions, and completing documentation.
6. Identifying staff training needs to support HSE objectives.
7. Managing SHE appointment registers, safety inspections, and preparing reports.
8. Maintaining the company's emergency response plan and implementing safe systems of work for hazardous activities.
9. Monitoring medical surveillance programs and overseeing workers' compensation processes.
10. Ensuring legal compliance and liaising with regulatory authorities.
11. Maintaining document control for the SHE Management System.
12. Managing environmental programs focused on resource conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable practices.
13. Monitoring environmental impact assessments and compliance.

Position Requirements

• NOSA SAMTRAC certification
• Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment certification
• Incident Investigation certification
• Experience in manufacturing operations
