Division:

One of the largest businesses within the Sanlam Group, Sanlam Corporate (SC) specializes in the provision of risk, investment and administration services to institutions and retirement funds.

The overall purpose of the role:

We are looking for a meticulous and proactive professional to support our Group Risk Scheme Implementation team. In this role, you will perform specialized Group Risk Benefits knowledge and operating system level skills to ensure a successful and comprehensive system implementation of each individual client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and interpreting complex supporting documentation and data to determine appropriate risk benefit structures aligned with signed quotations and policy requirements.
  • Managing the implementation of non-standard and complex group schemes, ensuring compliance and alignment with internal systems and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Coordinating with Retirement Fund Administrators across multiple Umbrella Funds to ensure consistent and accurate administration.
  • Facilitating the system setup of risk benefits tailored to the needs of each participating employer.
  • Adapting to changing client requirements and operational procedures, integrating these seamlessly into existing workflows.
  • Conducting detailed testing and validation of data uploads at both employer and member level, ensuring benefit accuracy from inception.
  • Overseeing amendments to risk benefit structures, including benefit additions, removals, and rate changes.
  • Supporting the annual rate revision process, ensuring all risk benefit updates are reflected accurately in administrative systems.
  • Staying abreast of product developments and legislative changes.
  • Issuing Member Benefit Statements in line with PPR requirements.
  • Managing member data uploads, group transfers, and medical underwriting requirements.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Matric with Mathematics and/or Accounting (minimum C symbol)
  • A Minimum of 4 to 6 years’ experience in Group Risk environment with knowledge of the new business process.
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability.
  • Overall good knowledge and understanding of the different group risk benefit products, processes and services available to Employers for their employees.
  • Strong Outlook, Word & Excel skills.
  • Understanding of Sanlam Group Risk Policies, Fund Rules, different Group Risk Products, and legislation linked to the implementation process.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Interpret and analyze detailed documentation specific to each client.
  • Good understanding of the different group risk benefit insurance available to Employers for their employees.
  • Sound knowledge of products, processes, and services in the overall Group Risk environment.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual understanding of Fund Rules, policy structures, and Group Risk Benefits.
