Job summary

Impala is seeking an Engineering Assistant aimed at maintaining mining equipment through routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure safe and efficient operation.

The role requires Grade 12 or NQF 4, a Serviceman Certificate, and 1 year of related experience, with strong mechanical/electrical knowledge and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance tasks: lubrication, cleaning, component replacement.
• Diagnoses and repairs malfunctions; replaces parts as needed.
• Identifies root causes of malfunctions and recommends solutions.
• Ensures safety regulations and company policies are followed during maintenance.
• Records maintenance activities and issues in logbooks.
• Supports cost reduction and productivity initiatives within scope.
• Assists with change management to drive transformation.
• Maintains healthy relations with stakeholders and supports team objectives.
• Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards; reports non-compliance.
• Participates in safety meetings and suggests safety improvements.
• Performs regular inspections and reports hazards with remedial actions.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Performs routine maintenance tasks, like lubrication, cleaning, and component replacement, to keep equipment running smoothly.


• Diagnoses and repair malfunctions, replacing parts as needed.

• Ensures all maintenance and repair work is done in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.

• Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.


• Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.


• Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.


• Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
