Job description

Role Overview:
IPEX Machinery seeks a skilled Service Technician to provide on-site technical support, maintenance, and repairs for our range of imported packaging machinery. This is a field-based role, not in-house, and involves daily travel to customer sites as well as being available for afterhours call-outs.
The ideal candidate is a qualified Millwright with solid experience across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems—preferably within the packaging or FMCG sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical and electrical fault-finding and repairs on packaging machinery
  • Diagnose and program PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.)
  • Conduct pneumatic and hydraulic system repairs
  • Work with AC/DC sensors and automation components
  • Read and interpret technical and electrical drawings
  • Perform machine upgrades and modifications
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and complete service reports
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and SOPs
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and job cards
  • Represent the company professionally on client sites
  • Assist in equipment installation and commissioning when required
  • Perform occasional welding repairs as needed
Minimum Requirements:
  • Recognised Millwright Trade Certificate (Red Seal)
  • 3+ years relevant field experience (ideally in packaging or production machinery)
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • PLC fault-finding and basic programming ability
  • Able to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • High attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to travel daily and work on-site at various customer locations
