This position provides technical support for the Electric Motors and Drives departments, including repairs, warranties, and maintaining QA systems.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Support: Provide 24-hour support via phone and on-site for customers and sales staff, including problem evaluation and schematic diagram analysis.
Drive Setup and Support: Set up and test drives in panels, attend to breakdowns or commissioning on site, potentially involving travel and overnight stays.
Repairs and Warranties: Analyze faulty motors and drives, report and document repairs, prepare warranty claims, and keep warranty records.
Administration: Manage job cards, goods received notes, update GRN schedules, process job cards, work in progress, and delivery notes, and ensure accurate customer quotations and invoicing in Syspro.
Technical Documentation: Create and maintain master technical files for each product and ensure sufficient spare parts stock.
Qualifications
Recognized qualification (Electrician or Technician with N3 National Diploma in Heavy or Light Current Electrical Engineering).
Minimum 3 years' experience in electric motor and drives service and repairs.
Computer literacy with Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Special Requirements
Valid Code 8 Driver's License.
Proficiency in English and Afrikaans.
Ability to meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and make independent decisions.
Customer service orientation and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays.
Hardworking, resourceful, and a good team player.
Working Conditions
Occasional out-of-town travel and work beyond regular hours.
Participation in ongoing education to stay current in the profession.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
